    Sunday 10:30 Lakewood Ride

    Distance - 25 – 45 miles

    Gather at the Geico building in Lakewood. 12930 Pacific Hwy SW a, Lakewood, WA 98499

    Pace 3 (15 – 18mph on flat ground). A few hills based on group ability & desire.

    Destination can be Nisqually, Pt Defiance, Gig Harbor, Spanaway.

    This ride is for base miles, building for summer event rides. We may have a mid point stop at a gas station or lunch stop depending on distance and conditions.

    The Peninsula Metric Century (PMC) is a challenging ride through the scenic Kitsap Peninsula. Enjoy panoramic waterfront views, rural countryside, and lots of rolling hills. Choose from routes of 60k, 100k or 100m. Riders will enjoy a well-marked course, support vehicles, fully stocked rest stops, and dessert at the finish line.   

    • Everyone will need to sign a release form and pick up a wrist-band.
    • Riders planning on riding the 100 mile course will need to show up and leave between 7am and 7:30am.
    • Riders planning on riding the 67 mile (100 K) course will need to show up and leave between 7:30 and 8am.
    • Riders planning on riding the 38 mile course will need to show up and leave between 8am and 8:30.

    Members, please Volunteer for the PMC and help your club. Remember Volunteers can ride free before or after your shift.

    Route Choices             From Tacoma
    • 60k (38m) loop crosses the Narrows Bridge, loops around by Kopachuck, Crescent Valley and the Cushman Trail.
    • 100k (67m) loop crosses the Narrows through Gig Harbor to Southworth, along Beach Drive into Port Orchard through Kitsap County and Purdy on rural roads with rolling hills.
    • 100m loop, a very challenging course with seven thousand feet of elevation gain. It has all of the scenery of the shorter routes plus Wauna, Rosedale and Wollochet Bay.

    Registration
    • Online: only method

    • There will be no "day of" registration
    Families with minor children
    For registration purposes,  children aged 17 or under may ride free when registered with an adult parent.
    Parking and Transit Service There is ample free parking at the start location. In any case, we encourage you to cycle, carpool or use public transportation. The Tacoma start location is at the Park & Ride across from the Narrows Theater.  
    Rider Safety Please come prepared to ride. We recommend you inspect your bike the night before. Along with your bike, bring an approved helmet, ID, water, first aid kit, tire repair equipment, other essentials, and a friendly attitude. All riders are expected to ride safely and obey the rules of the road.
    Ride Support Rest stops supplied with food, drink and sani-cans. Sag wagons will be near the route for mechanically stranded riders. Course closes at 5pm. Final sweep by sag wagons begins at 4pm.
    Event Proceeds Rider registration fees for TWBC events help to support , bicycling safety and education programs, and local bicycle improvements. Surplus food is donated to a local food bank.
    Volunteers This event is powered by dozens of TWBC volunteers—who receive free ride registration and a post-event party at Wildside Wine. Help make this event a success:

    This ride is on the Chehalis Western Trail and begins in Lacey with a destination in Tenino.

    Meet at the Chambers Lake Chehalis Western trail head in Lacey, be ready to leave at 9:30. 

    Take exit 108 to Sleater Kinney Road SE and proceed south to 14th Avenue. Turn right on 14th and then left after you cross under the trestle (park is next to the trestle). 

    Bring money to buy lunch at the Sandstone Cafe.

    Tacoma Washington Bicycle Club presents the 2017 Tacoma Century Challenge, an overlapping loop design passing through the central point of the Fircrest Community Center Pavilion. Seven routes will take you through Tacoma and surrounding areas. 

    The ride is 100 miles with a total elevation gain of 5,063 feet. Riders can complete all seven (7) routes in sequence (recommended) or they are free to ride any combination of loops in whatever sequence they wish. Women are encouraged to join us for a great day of riding!

    Ride the Willapa is an annual bike riding event and festival – the makings of an unforgettable weekend experience filled with the simple pleasures of fresh air, family, and fun. Utilizing 22 miles of the gorgeous Willapa Hills Trail, Ride the Willapa offers a go-at-your-own-pace, build-your-own-experience kind of ride. There are many sights and stops to see, from the Tour de Farms, Rainbow Falls Campout, and at the ride’s terminus – the Pe Ell, WA Village Festival. This flat-grade journey gives you a front seat to what many riders would agree is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places Washington state has to offer. Starting and then ending the next day at the Chehalis Veterans Museum, you can make as many stops and check out as many things as you’d like on the trail. There is something for everyone.
